Dead animals (domestic, pet, zoo, circus and, under special circumstances, wild animals) and certain waste of animal origin, such as slaughterhouse waste, must be disposed of properly. The harmless disposal of these animal carcasses and parts of animal carcasses is an important part of animal disease control and public health precautions and is carried out in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern by SecAnim GmbH.

Individual animal carcasses of pets (dogs, cats, birds, etc.) are not subject to the obligation to be disposed of at the processing plant of SecAnim GmbH if they are

1. buried in specially approved places or facilities (e.g. pet cemetery) or
2. buried on the company's own premises, but not in water protection areas and not in the immediate vicinity of public paths and squares, or
3. disposed of by incineration in an approved

When burying, ensure that the carcasses are covered with a layer of soil at least 50 centimeters thick. Exemptions are also possible for equidae that are incinerated in an approved incineration plant, if a permit is issued by the locally competent veterinary and food control office.

In the case of dead cattle, the cattle passport must be enclosed; in the case of dead equidae, the equine passport must be enclosed. Otherwise, no documents are to be submitted.

SecAnim GmbH charges fees for the services provided on the basis of a fee list. Information can be obtained from SecAnim GmbH.

The owner where the animal carcasses or animal by-products to be disposed of fall must inform SecAnim GmbH immediately. SecAnim GmbH will come with a special vehicle and pick up the fallen animals or animal by-products.

The notification to SecAnim GmbH shall be made without delay in accordance with § 7 of the Animal By-Products Disposal Act.
