If you would like your object to be recognized as a monument and thus obtain protection under the Monument Protection Act, you can apply for a determination of monument status and thus for entry as a monument in the monument list.
The monuments protected under the Monument Protection Act are recorded in a monument list by the responsible lower monument protection authority. The monument lists are kept separately for ground monuments, building monuments and movable monuments. Movable monuments are only entered in the list of monuments if this seems appropriate due to their special significance, which can also lie in a historical local reference. If movable monuments are cared for in a public collection, they do not need to be entered in the monument list.
If you would like your object to be recognized as a monument and thus obtain protection under the Monument Protection Act, you can apply for a determination of monument status and thus for entry as a monument in the monument list. The monument status is examined, described and justified according to the criteria stated in the Monument Protection Act.
You must be the owner of the prospective monument or an authorized representative or agent.
You can apply to the responsible lower monument protection authority for the determination of the monument status for an object and thus the entry as a monument in the monument list. However, the entry can also be made ex officio, i.e. without an application, by the competent monument protection authority itself.
