If the rear license plate is partially or completely covered by a load carrier or load being carried (e.g. bicycle carrier), the license plate must be repeated on the vehicle or load carrier. It is not necessary to stamp the third license plate. In the case of vehicles on which light carriers are permitted in accordance with Section 49a (9) of the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations, the rear license plate may be attached to the light carrier.
Attachments as interchangeable accessories for motor vehicles and trailers do not need to carry license plates. If the vehicle's license plates are covered, it is recommended that repeating license plates be affixed. The same applies to attached agricultural and forestry implements.
As processing by a licensing authority is not necessary, the submission of documents is not required.
If the license plates of the towing vehicle are obscured by a load carrier or load being carried, the license plate must be repeated on the vehicle or load carrier. If the license plates of the towing vehicle are obscured by attachments or implements, it is recommended that repeating license plates be affixed.
As processing by a registration authority is not necessary, no fees and expenses are incurred. It is not possible to provide information on the purchase costs for the repeat license plate and its installation.
Have an additional license plate made for the license plate assigned to your vehicle if you intend to drive the vehicle or order it to be driven even if its rear license plate is partially or completely obscured by a load carrier or load being carried. As soon as this situation arises, mount the repeat license plate on the vehicle or load carrier.
A plate used as a repeat license plate does not need to be submitted to the registration authority. In this respect, there is no need to specify a processing time.
Repeat license plates must be affixed to the vehicle or load carrier immediately as soon as the rear license plate of the towing vehicle is partially or completely obscured by a load carrier or load being carried.

If necessary, it is recommended that repeat license plates be affixed to attachments and implements.
