Here you can apply for the issue of a lifetime fishing license as well as replacement and exchange.

The fishing license for life is issued to persons who wish to fish as a leisure activity if they have successfully passed a corresponding examination of expertise (fishing license examination). The examination covers the subjects of general fishing knowledge, special fishing knowledge, water knowledge, fishing gear knowledge and legal knowledge.

Persons who fish professionally (main and part-time fishermen) receive

• the fishing license upon presentation of a training contract (then with a time limit until the end of the training) or
• the fishing license for life upon presentation of proof of completed professional training.

Persons who practice fishing from a scientific point of view (e.g. fisheries biologists) receive a fishing license for life upon presentation of proof of completed academic fishing training.

• Original and copy of the certificate of having passed the fishing license examination or a comparable certificate of competence that exempts you from taking the fishing license examination

Comparable expert documents are

• Completed training as a fish farmer or vocational training equivalent to a fish farmer [see § 2 KüFVO and § 2 BiFVO]
• a completed university or university of applied sciences degree in fisheries (fisheries biologist, master's/bachelor's degree with specialization in fisheries biology, fisheries engineer, fisheries engineer)

Remark:

• Since 01.09.2005, the predatory fish qualification of the German Anglers' Association of the GDR in the DAV membership book no longer constitutes a document of expertise for the issue of a fishing license. The new fishing law of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern ended the 12-year exchange campaign.
• The issue of a fishing license for life is subject to a fee. In addition to the fee, a levy is charged if a fishing tax stamp is issued (see fees and charges).

The applicant must have reached the age of 14 (children < 14 years do not require a fishing license - but a fishing permit for the body of water)
The applicant must declare that they have not been convicted of a criminal offense against fishing, animal welfare, water and environmental laws or theft of fish or fishing tackle in the five years prior to submitting the application. He/she must also declare that no fine proceedings have been conducted in the last three years prior to the application due to a violation of the above-mentioned regulations.

• Fee for the fishing license for life (new, replacement, exchange): EUR 8.00
  • If the cost of issuing the fishing license is higher than usual due to special circumstances (e.g. missing documents must be obtained by the authority), a surcharge of up to 25% of the issuing fee may be levied.
• In addition, a fishing tax stamp must be purchased for EUR 10.00 for the annual validity of the fishing license and affixed to the license.

The following authorities are responsible for issuing fishing licenses for life:

• for persons who wish to fish as a leisure activity (anglers or sport fishermen): local regulatory authorities of the offices and independent municipalities in whose area the applicant has their main residence.
• for persons who fish for a living(professional fishermen as a main or secondary occupation) or for scientific purposes (e.g. fisheries biologists as fisheries scientists): the State Office for Agriculture, Food Safety and Fisheries (LALLF M-V) as the higher fisheries authority.

In addition to the fishing license, every angler also needs a water-specific fishing permit, which can be obtained from the fishing authority (inland fisherman, fishing club, municipality) of the water. Fishing permits for the coastal waters of the state of M-V are issued by the upper fishing authority.

The fishing license for life is issued to anglers / sport fishermen who have successfully passed a corresponding examination (fishing license examination).
Professional fishermen receive the fishing license for life upon presentation of a training contract or proof of professional qualification; fishery scientists receive the fishing license for life upon presentation of proof of university or technical college training in fisheries.
