Have you suffered damage to your health as a result of a vaccination or other specific prophylactic measure?
If this vaccination was publicly recommended, ordered or prescribed by law, or carried out on the basis of international health regulations, you will receive care on application for the health and economic consequences of the damage caused by the vaccination in accordance with the Law on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Infection Protection Law). The care is granted in corresponding application of the regulations of the Federal Supply Act (BVG).
Compensation may take the form of a monthly pension. Depending on the degree of damage (GdS) determined, the pension includes
- non-income-related benefits, such as basic pension, care allowance, clothing allowance, severely disabled person's allowance, and
- income-related benefits, such as compensatory pension, spouse's supplement, occupational injury compensation.
- Survivors' benefits for widows, widowers, orphans and parents are also regulated.
- There is also the possibility of assuming costs in the event of a need for care due to injury and in the event of a stay in a home, as well as the payment of death and burial benefits.
- Other benefits include medical and health care, welfare (war victims' welfare) and the provision of orthopedic aids.
- Birth certificate or (if the application is submitted in person) identity card or passport,
- confirmation of registration,
- Proof of citizenship (if not German citizenship),
- For non-EU applicants: proof of your legal residence,
- Medical documents in your possession (e.g. medical reports), if applicable,
- Proof (if available) of the administration of the vaccination or specific prophylaxis, e.g. vaccination card, treatment records
- Power of attorney, guardian card or certificate of appointment, if applicable,
- vaccination card/vaccination book/vaccination certificate
In principle, there are no deadlines to be observed. In order to receive care from the onset of the injury, the application must be submitted within one year of the vaccination.
If this vaccination was publicly recommended, legally ordered or prescribed, or carried out on the basis of international health regulations, you will receive care on application in accordance with the Law on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Infection Protection Law) due to the health and economic consequences of the vaccination damage. The care will be granted by analogous application of the provisions of the Federal Supply Act (BVG).
Responsibility lies with the federal state in which the vaccination or specific prophylaxis was carried out.
The care is only granted upon application. The application must be submitted by the person concerned himself or by his legal representative or guardian.
