Counseling is provided confidentially, anonymously and free of charge by the health offices of the counties and independent cities and by counseling centers for sexual health and sex education run by independent organizations.
Counseling on HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections (STI`s) is offered in M-V by the health offices of the counties and independent cities and by counseling centers for sexual health and education of independent institutions. The counseling is confidential, anonymous and free of charge.

- Safer sex rules
- Risk assessment
- HIV antibody test - necessity, procedure, waiting periods
- Risks in the field of prostitution

- Living with HIV
- Possibilities of drug prevention (PEP and PrEP)
Counseling can be done in person or by phone. Sexual health and education counseling centers also offer online counseling.
It is possible to have an anonymous HIV test at all health offices. The counseling centers for sexual health and education in Wismar, Rostock and Stralsund also offer anonymous HIV rapid tests. For this, it may be necessary to make an appointment in advance.

There is no charge for counseling on HIV/AIDS and STI`s. The same applies to the HIV test (if anonymous) at the health office.
The HIV rapid test is subject to a fee. Information about the costs can be obtained from the counseling centers for sexual health and education.
If a written report is required, costs of approx. 30 euros will be incurred. Please bring your identity card with you.

After a risk contact, for example afterunprotected sex it takes six weeks to three months- depending on the test procedure - before an HIV infection can be ruled out with certainty. This is also related to the course of the infection, because only when the HI virus spreads in the body is there a detectable immune response to the infection.
