If you move out of a secondary residence and do not move into another residence in Germany, you must deregister for this residence.

In the case of persons under the age of 16, care must be taken to ensure that they are deregistered by the person from whose home they are moving out.
You must deregister from the secondary residence within 2 weeks of moving out. You can deregister in the week before you move out of the apartment.
If someone has several homes within the Federal Republic of Germany, one of these homes is the main home. The main residence is the dwelling primarily used.
The other dwellings are secondary residences.
If you move out of a secondary residence and do not move into another residence in Germany, you must deregister for this residence.
The registration authority of the municipality or city of the then sole residence or the main residence, if you have other residences.
The secondary residence cannot be deregistered with the registration authority responsible for the secondary residence (§ 21 Paragraph 4 BMG). You must notify the registration authority responsible for your sole or main residence when you move out of the secondary residence. In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the responsible registration authorities are the mayors of the independent towns, the mayors of the large towns belonging to the district and the independent municipalities and the heads of the local authorities as local registration authorities.
