If you register or deregister your place of residence with the registration office, you will receive an official confirmation of registration as proof.
If you register or deregister your place of residence with the registration office responsible for you, you will receive an official confirmation of registration as proof.
You cannot apply for the official confirmation of registration. Only when you register or deregister your place of residence will you be issued with the confirmation of registration.
The official registration confirmation contains your surname, first names, doctor's degree, date of birth, date of moving in or out, date of registration or deregistration, address and an indication of whether it is a sole, main or secondary residence.

- if moving from abroad: last residential address in Germany
- for spouses, life partners and family members with the same move dates: Date of moving in as well as previous and current residences
- The competent authority may request the submission of further documents to verify the information (e.g.: marriage certificate, birth certificate).
You can obtain an official confirmation of registration either in person or online when registering or deregistering an apartment.
You appear in person at the registration office responsible for you.
- You present all the necessary documents.
- You register or deregister your place of residence.
- You will then receive your official registration confirmation from the registration office free of charge.
If you register your place of residence electronically:
- You call up the online service.
- You log in to the online service with your user account.
- You enter all the required data online and submit the form online.
- You will receive a code by post to your new address.
- You confirm that you are moving into your new home by entering the code in the online service.
- Finally, you will receive your official registration confirmation electronically.
