An arbitration board has been set up at the chambers of industry and commerce to settle competition disputes.

The conciliation board for the settlement of competition disputes is a forum set up by the Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) to reach an amicable settlement between the parties in competition disputes.
It meets with an experienced competition lawyer and two business people together with the opposing parties. The facts of the case are discussed in a round table discussion moderated by the chairman. The different assessments are debated and the relevant statutory provisions and case law are discussed.
Unlike in court, this takes place relatively informally and not in public.
The meeting usually lasts 30 to 60 minutes. At the end of the hearing, the conciliation board submits a settlement proposal, which the parties can agree to.

The procedure itself is free of charge.
However, the IHK may demand reimbursement of expenses that it pays as remuneration or compensation to the members of the conciliation board or witnesses and experts.

The conciliation board is responsible for all legal disputes in which a claim is asserted on the basis of the UWG, e.g. due to unfair advertising, misleading advertising, unlawful comparative advertising or unreasonable harassment.
