Gesellenprüfung: Zulassung in Ausnahmefällen

In exceptional cases, anyone who has worked in the profession for at least one and a half times the prescribed training period may be admitted to the journeyman's examination.

You can also be admitted to the journeyman's examination if you have worked in the occupation in which you wish to take the examination for at least one and a half times the prescribed training period. The chambers of crafts and trades may stipulate a longer required period of employment in their examination regulations.

Training periods in another relevant occupation also count as periods of professional activity. Proof of the minimum period may be waived in whole or in part if you can demonstrate that you have acquired the required professional competence by submitting certificates or in some other way.

Foreign educational qualifications and periods of professional activity abroad will be taken into account.

• Professional or training certificates,
• if applicable, other evidence of the acquisition of professional competence.

The chamber or guild will provide information on the amount of the examination fee to be paid.
