You may have a legitimate interest in obtaining information from the register of owners of a business in a craft that does not require a license or a trade similar to a craft. You can obtain this information from the relevant Chamber of Crafts.

The register of owners of a business in a craft that does not require a license or a craft-like trade is a register of all owners of a standing trade in which craft activities that do not require a license or craft-like trade activities are carried out. It is kept by each chamber of commerce for its district.

Information from the register can be provided to you on request if you can prove a legitimate interest.

Individual information contains the following information about a company:

• Company details
• First name and surname of the registered business owner/tradesperson, or the legal representative or the manager of the business or the personally liable partner responsible for the technical management of the business
• Type of registered craft
• Address of the commercial establishment.

Provided there is no legitimate interest of the data subject to the contrary, the information will be made available to you. However, as the recipient of the information, you may only use this data for the purpose that you specified when submitting the application.

In addition to the details of the applicant for the information, the application must also contain details of the business (address, name) for which information is requested and the applicant's legitimate interest.

As a private individual, you can also invoke the legitimate interest if you want to know more about a business.

• The costs are based on the fee schedule of the relevant Chamber of Skilled Crafts.
• Fees will also be charged if the trades business sought could not be identified (negative information).

• You apply to the relevant Chamber of Skilled Crafts for information from the register of owners of a business in a craft that does not require a license or a trade similar to a craft. In your application, you name the business for which you would like information and state your legitimate interest.
• After checking the legitimate interest, the Chamber of Skilled Crafts will provide the information.
• Provided there is no legitimate interest of the person concerned, the information will be provided to you. However, you may only use this data for the purpose you specified when submitting the application.
