Entrepreneurs wishing to import food into the EU must ensure that import inspections are carried out properly.

Are you an entrepreneur importing food into the EU? Then you must ensure that the prescribed import inspections are carried out properly. When importing food of animal origin (including live animals), the person responsible for transportation must notify the competent authority in advance of the arrival of the consignment at the border inspection post.

• The import of foodstuffs from Denmark to Schleswig-Holstein is not an import operation into the EU, but an intra-Community transfer. Clearance by a GKS is not required.
  
• Customs issues have not been taken into account here. If necessary, these must be clarified with the responsible customs authorities.

There is no border inspection post in Schleswig-Holstein.
You should therefore contact the competent food control authority of the federal state through which you wish to import the food into Germany.
