Victim support supports victims of crime and their families.

Victim support exists to meet the needs of victims of crime and their families. In criminal proceedings, the focus is usually on the victim's role as a witness. However, victims' needs also include safety from further crimes, coping with the trauma resulting from the crime, assistance in restoring the victim's dignity and support in compensating for the damage suffered.

In 2009, the private "Landesstiftung Opferschutz Schleswig-Holstein" (Schleswig-Holstein Victim Protection Foundation) was established with funds from the state of Schleswig-Holstein, whose purpose includes providing individual financial support to victims of crime.

Victims of crime also receive assistance from WEISSER RING - Gemeinnütziger Verein zur Unterstützung von Kriminalitätsopfern und zur Verhütung von Straftaten e.V.
