Citizens and companies can purchase land and property that the state of Schleswig-Holstein or a local authority no longer needs to fulfill its duties.
In addition, items that come to the state or a local authority through inheritance, such as crockery, jewelry or vehicles, are auctioned off to the highest bidder. This also applies to land and real estate transferred from estates.
The so-called "fiscal inheritances" or "fiscal inheritances" arise when the country is appointed as heir or the existing heirs renounce the inheritance. A municipality, like the state, can become a testamentary heir; however, unlike the municipality, the state becomes a legal heir under certain conditions.
