Law on local public transport in Schleswig-Holstein (ÖPNVG)

The districts / independent cities and the local transport associations NAH.SH GmbH and HVV GmbH are responsible for local public transport.

Local public transport is an important pillar in the transport concept of the state of Schleswig-Holstein. In principle, the aim is to shift motorized private transport (MIV) to public transport.

Local public transport should ensure that the population is adequately served with transport services in all parts of the state and be developed into an attractive and environmentally friendly alternative to private motorized transport.

• To the districts or independent cities or
• to NAH.SH GmbH, which was commissioned by the state of Schleswig-Holstein with the task of organizing local rail passenger transport in the state, or
• to HVV GmbH for the districts of Steinburg, Pinneberg, Segeberg, Stormarn and Herzogtum Lauenbug.
