Vaccinations are administered by doctors. They are one of the most important measures to prevent diseases.

Vaccinations are one of the most important measures to prevent diseases. Some diseases no longer occur, or only very rarely, because most people have been vaccinated.

Before vaccines are approved, their effectiveness and safety must be proven in studies. The independent Standing Committee on Vaccination (STIKO) then examines who is recommended to be vaccinated in Germany and when it makes the most sense to administer it. Individual advice from your doctor or the public health service is based on these recommendations.

Vaccination certificate

There are usually no fees for vaccinations recommended by the STIKO, as these are covered by the health insurance company, the districts/district-free cities or by the employer for company reasons.

All other vaccinations, in particular vaccinations for protection during private travel to areas with a particular risk of infection (e.g. yellow fever), are subject to a fee.
