Law on store opening hours (Shop Opening Hours Act - LÖffZG)

In Schleswig-Holstein, sales outlets may generally be open from midnight to midnight on working days.

In Schleswig-Holstein, sales outlets may be open for business with customers from midnight to midnight on working days. Sales outlets must be closed for business traffic at the following times

• on Sundays and public holidays and
• on December 24, if this day falls on a working day, from 2 pm.

During these times, it is also prohibited to offer goods for sale to anyone outside the sales outlets. By way of derogation from this:

• Petrol stations from 0 a.m. to midnight for the sale of fuels, spare parts for maintaining or restoring the roadworthiness of motor vehicles and for the sale of travel supplies,
• Sales outlets at airports, ferry ports and rail passenger stations for the sale of travel supplies between midnight and midnight,
• sales outlets offering mainly flowers and plants, newspapers and magazines or bakery and confectionery products for a period of five hours, but not on Good Friday,

be open.

Further exceptions apply to opening on special occasions, pharmacies, municipalities in border areas and health resorts, recreation and tourist destinations.

• To the municipal, local or city administration (public order office), or
• to the state occupational health and safety authority at the Unfallkasse Nord.
