For funding with ESF Plus funds, a number of regulations, guidelines, rules regarding eligibility, funding guidelines, calls for competition and, last but not least, the approved ESF Schleswig-Holstein 2021-2027 program must be observed. The ESF Schleswig-Holstein 2021-2027 program was one of the first ESF programs to be approved by the EU Commission on 19 May 2022.

The ESF Plus funds will be used to support people in Schleswig-Holstein in the areas of employment, education and social integration through the state's Work 2021 - 2027 program.

The state program Work 2021 - 2027 builds on its successful predecessor program. Many campaigns such as inter-company apprenticeship training, Women & Work and Innovative Pathways to Employment will be continued in an enhanced and optimized form. The Fachkräfteservice SH, the PAM - Perspektive am Arbeitsmarkt campaign and the introduction of IT scouts in the vocational preparation and training support campaign are new additions. IT scouts are aimed specifically at young people with career guidance offers in order to awaken an interest in technical professions.

The state's Work 2021 - 2027 program comprises around 224 million euros. 88.8 million euros from the ESF Plus, a large part of the funding comes from Brussels, a further 88.4 million euros are provided by the state and around 46.5 million euros are contributed by private individuals, including companies in the form of co-financing.

The state program Work 2021 - 2027 comprises a total of 11 actions in the three priority areas of employment, education and social integration, which have the following objectives:

• To support companies in securing future employment, skilled workers and young talent and to increase the quality of training and further education.
• To support employees' participation in further training and lifelong learning against the backdrop of growing and changing demands in working life.
• To increase the participation of women in the workforce.
• To introduce disadvantaged groups in the labor market, including people with a migration background, to the labor market and support their integration into employment.
• To improve the educational opportunities of young people and tap into their educational potential.

All actions have already started. As a result, there were no gaps in funding and all recipients and interested parties were able to make a seamless transition between the expiring and the new funding period.

Currently, only the end of the deadline for eligibility (December 31, 2029) must be taken into account.
