The founding of a new party is subject to federal regulations. Information on this can be obtained from the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and the Federal Returning Officer.
A party is an association of citizens that seeks to influence the political decision-making process throughout the Federal Republic of Germany or in a federal state on a permanent or long-term basis and to participate in the representation of the people in parliaments.
A party must, according to the overall picture of the actual circumstances, in particular
- the size and strength of its organization
- the number of its members and
- according to its public image
offer a sufficient guarantee of the seriousness of this objective.
The foundation of a new party is subject to federal legal requirements, about which the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and the Federal Returning Officer provide information.
