Nature parks are model landscapes that are particularly suitable for nature-based recreation. They were created to preserve, maintain and restore large-scale cultural landscapes that are of outstanding importance for nature conservation reasons and because of their special character and beauty. Each nature park represents a unique landscape with its own special appearance.
Nature parks
- promote sustainable agriculture and forestry,
- improve recreational opportunities, particularly in urban areas and
- promote the development of sustainable tourism, especially in structurally weak regions.
In this way, as well as through special species and biotope protection measures, they protect nature and the landscape and thus contribute to the economic development of the nature park region, as does the marketing of regional products.
The work of the nature parks focuses on environmental education and public relations. They promote a broad environmental awareness, regional identity and an understanding of nature conservation and the sustainable overall development of rural areas. Another focus is the preservation of architectural and archaeological monuments as well as the further development of settlement and building culture. Specific tasks of the nature parks also include the creation and maintenance of recreational facilities, participation in planning that affects the nature park area and cooperation with various social groups and institutions.
