Anyone wishing to carry out domestic slaughtering must have the necessary knowledge and skills.
Home slaughtering is slaughtering outside of commercial slaughterhouses for one's own domestic consumption. The prerequisite is that the person slaughtering the animals has the necessary knowledge and skills to do so.
In the case of domestic slaughter, ungulates kept as pets or farmed game are subject to official ante-mortem and post-mortem inspection. Pigs, horses or other ungulates that may be carriers of trichinae must be registered for official testing for trichinae.
The production of meat for other persons is a commercial activity and may only be carried out in compliance with the standards of European and national food hygiene legislation.
