If you wish to operate an amusement arcade or a business that deals exclusively or predominantly with the installation of gaming devices with the possibility of winning, the organization of other games with cash prizes or the installation of entertainment gaming devices without the possibility of winning, you require a permit.

- Information from the central trade register (document type 9),
- Certificate in tax matters from the responsible tax office,
- Extract from the debtor register,
- Certificate from the insolvency court,
- Social concept,
- floor plans for the premises (for commercial operation of a gaming arcade) in the number required by the competent authorities and
- site plans of the premises in the number required by the competent authority.
If the company is a GbR, the GbR contract must also be submitted.
An excerpt from the commercial, cooperative or association register must also be submitted if applicable.
Currently between 400.00 and 2,100.00 euros are charged in accordance with the Annex to the State Ordinance on Administrative Fees. Detailed information can be obtained from the responsible office.
The permit in accordance with § 3 of the Gaming Halls Act expires if the owner has not commenced operation within one year of its issue or has not operated the establishment for a period of one year.
The deadlines can be extended for good cause.
Anyone wishing to operate an amusement arcade as a "traveling trade" requires a permit from the competent authority for the respective place of business in accordance with Section 60a GewO. Please note that different fees may be associated with this than with the granting of a permit in the "standing trade".
For the installation of gaming machines, an additional permit pursuant to Section 33c (1) GewO is required. Furthermore, a certificate regarding the suitability of the installation site is required for each installation site in accordance with § 33c Para. 3 GewO.
