Anhängerklasse E beantragen

If you have a class B driver's license, you can extend it to include trailer class E.

With driving license class B, you may couple a trailer to your car that does not exceed a total weight of 750kg.

With driving license class BE, on the other hand, you can couple a trailer with a permissible total weight exceeding 750kg to your vehicle. The maximum weight of the trailer must not exceed 3,500kg.

To apply for the extension of your driver's license to trailer class E, you must already hold a class B driver's license or meet the requirements for the driver's license. For the extension to class BE, you only have to pass a practical test. A theoretical test is not required.

• valid identity card or passport (if necessary with current certificate of residence)
• Application for extension of driving license
• a biometric photo according to the passport regulation (size 45x35 mm)
• eye test certificate (not older than 2 years)
• proof of training in first aid (if not already proven to the driving license authority)
• valid driver's license
• if necessary, a copy of the card from the last issuing authority (if different)
• Information about the driving school

• You must have a German class B driver's license.
• You must have your main residence in Germany.
• You must have reached the required minimum age of 18 for classes B and BE.

The fee is based on the applicable schedule of fees for road traffic measures (GebOSt).

If the driver's license is sent directly to the home address, an additional shipping fee will be charged.
