As a district/city or water rescue organization, you can apply for recognition for water rescue units for which you are responsible in your area of responsibility.

This administrative service is aimed at municipalities and organizations that are active in water rescue. Districts and independent cities can apply for recognition for water rescue units that are deployed by the responsible local authorities as part of emergency response.

Aid organizations apply for recognition of water rescue units that are deployed by the responsible state authorities as part of emergency response.

The federal state is responsible for water rescue in non-municipalized coastal waters.

The following applies to municipal waters:

• Districts or independent cities must intend to commission the water rescue unit to carry out the water rescue.
• An application for recognition of a fire department as a water rescue unit can only be submitted to the state by its sponsor (municipality) via the responsible district.

As the state is responsible for water rescue in non-municipalized coastal waters, the prerequisite for the aid organizations is that the state intends to commission the water rescue unit to carry out water rescue on a specific section of the coast.

• The responsible authority will then check your application and give you feedback.

There is no deadline.

This service is aimed exclusively at districts and independent cities, as well as organizations active in water rescue.
