Arbitration Rules for the State of Schleswig-Holstein (SchO).
Arbitration is an institution for the pre-court and out-of-court settlement of certain legal disputes.
Legal disputes do not always have to be settled immediately in court. Arbitration proceedings often suffice as a more time-saving and cost-effective alternative.
Arbitration is an institution for the pre- and out-of-court settlement of certain legal disputes. This applies to both civil and criminal matters.
In every municipality, there are honorary arbitrators who are elected for a period of five years. Their task is to mediate between disputing parties and find solutions to legal disputes. They are bound to absolute confidentiality, even after their term of office, and are authorized to reach legally binding agreements.
In accordance with Section 45 of the Arbitration Rules for the State of Schleswig-Holstein (SchO), the costs for arbitration proceedings are between 20.00 and 75.00 euros.
Any expenses incurred may be added in accordance with § 46 SchO. Detailed information on this can be obtained from the competent office.
Further information can also be found on the website of the Ministry of Justice, Culture and Europe of the State of Schleswig-Holstein (MJKE) or the Association of German Arbitrators (BDS).
The application must be submitted in writing or for the record to the competent arbitrator.
