The municipal prevention councils (round table, crime prevention working group) help to prevent crime.

As a rule, local prevention councils are committees initiated and led by the local administration and made up of representatives from the administration, the judiciary and police, clubs and associations, the church, schools, independent social work organizations and interested and committed members of the community.

Community prevention councils improve the objective security situation and the subjective perception of security in the community. Around 90 municipal prevention councils have now been formed in Schleswig-Holstein, in which the administration, police, state and non-state actors and civil society work together to develop solutions.

The Schleswig-Holstein State Prevention Council supports and assists the local prevention councils in their work.
