All cemeteries offer burial plots for coffins and urn graves.

Volltext

Cemeteries are places of remembrance. They are places of peace and contemplation and are also significant in terms of cultural history.

In principle, all cemeteries offer both earth graves for coffin burials and urn graves. Both can be divided into elective graves (choice of location and renewal possible) and row graves with a fixed term that cannot be renewed.

Erforderliche Unterlagen

If you have any questions about specific burial plots, it is helpful to state the grave and/or plot number so that we can answer your question.

The following documents must be submitted for burial: death certificate and notification of death from the registry office in whose jurisdiction the death occurred.
The following documents are required:

  • Death certificate,
  • for unmarried persons: Birth certificate (year of birth > 1958) or parents' family register,
  • for married persons: Family register (year of birth > 1958) or marriage certificate,
  • for divorced persons: Divorce certificate,
  • for widowed persons: Death certificate of the deceased spouse,
  • Identity card of the deceased,
  • Notification of death.

Cremations with urn burial (cremations) can be carried out at a cemetery or from a ship at sea. The following documents must be submitted to the crematorium:

  • Declaration of will,
  • death certificate,
  • death certificate,
  • Official medical certificate.

For urn burial, the crematorium may only hand over the urn filled with the ashes of the deceased against proof of the possibility of burial. The crematorium must also be provided with informal proof of burial of the urn.
The urn may be buried in a cemetery or at sea (burial at sea). Burial at sea is usually organized or carried out by the funeral director. In the case of urn burial at sea, a minimum distance of 3 nautical miles from the coast must be observed. Water-soluble and biodegradable urns must be used.
