Do you want to register your child at a KiTa? There is a legal entitlement to so-called early childhood support when the child is 1 year old. Places for early childhood development are crèches, kindergartens, day nurseries and day care centers.
Child day care includes the care and support of your child in a child day care facility (crèche, kindergarten, after-school care) or a child day care center.
The day care facilities have the following tasks:
- They promote the child's development into a self-determined, independent and socially competent personality.
- They support and supplement upbringing and education in the family.
- They help parents to better reconcile work, child rearing and family care.
The support mandate encompasses the upbringing, education and care of the child. It relates to the child's social, emotional, physical and mental development. It includes the teaching of guiding values and rules.
The support should be based on the following characteristics of the children:
- Age
- level of development
- Linguistic and other abilities
- life situation
- interests and needs
- Ethnic origin
The placement of a childcare place in a child daycare facility takes place in cooperation with the responsible local youth welfare organization.
The scope of care varies from state to state and local authority to local authority.
A child who is 1 year old or older is entitled to early childhood support in a daycare facility or in a daycare center until their 3rd birthday.
If both parents are unable to look after their child themselves, children under the age of 1 may already be entitled to early childhood support. This is the case, for example, if both parents are working.
From the 3rd birthday until the child starts school, the child is entitled to support in a day care center.
The amount of your costs depends, among other things, on the amount of parental contributions, the local facility, the type of care (kindergarten, crèche, after-school care) and the scope of care (e.g. half-day or full-day).
You can obtain more detailed information on this from your local authority. This may differ from your place of residence if you wish to have your child cared for near your place of work.
After selecting the location where you would like to have your child looked after, you will be shown the contact details of the responsible office.
Parents should contact the responsible office in good time to find out whether there are any childcare places available.
You can find these by selecting the location where you would like to have your child looked after.
Personal contact or a personal meeting between you and the KiTa is useful and usually possible. Many facilities offer an introduction to their facility before registration.
After registration, the available places are allocated according to the local rules.
- Daycare center admission
- Legal entitlement to early childhood support
- If necessary, registration via local procedure
