Do you need a civil partnership certificate? You can obtain your civil partnership certificate from the registry office in whose district the civil partnership was established. The registry office will issue it from the civil partnership register.

Volltext

When you entered into a civil partnership, you received a civil partnership certificate. You can apply for further copies at the registry office at any time. To do so, please contact the registry office that notarized your civil partnership.

Saarland has also made use of the option granted by the Civil Status Act to set up a central electronic civil status register at state level. This enables citizens throughout Saarland to obtain information from Saarland civil status registers or civil status certificates from all registry offices, provided that the civil status cases are recorded electronically. This has regularly been the case since 01.01.2009.

The civil partnership certificate proves the establishment of a civil partnership between two people of the same sex. It contains the first and last names at the time of the establishment and before, the place and date of birth of the civil partners and the place and date of the establishment of the civil partnership.

You can obtain the civil partnership certificate in the following forms:

  • Civil partnership certificate (with translation assistance for use in EU countries if necessary)
  • Certified printout from the civil partnership register
  • Multilingual civil partnership certificate (only for use in certain countries abroad)

A certified printout from the civil partnership register shows all the data entered by the registry office in connection with the conclusion of the civil partnership. You will receive the certificate, including any subsequent certifications, as a printout from the electronic register.

If the civil status data of the civil partners changes, for example due to a change of name or dissolution of the civil partnership, the civil partnership entry is supplemented by a subsequent certification. A new civil partnership certificate can be issued upon request.
