You want to remove (clear) trees in a forest area in order to

• a forestry facility with an area of one hectare or more, or
• to lay out a pipeline corridor,

then you must apply for permission to do so from the lower forestry authority. In this context, the clearing of trees does not constitute a forest conversion in the sense of a change of use.

The construction of forest roads is exempt from the permit.

Notes:

• Please clarify before applying that no other administrative procedure, for example a planning approval procedure, has to be carried out for the creation of the pipeline corridor. In this case, a separate application for clearing is not necessary.
• If additional forest areas are necessary during the construction measure, for example for construction site facilities, then the approval of a temporary forest conversion must be applied for separately.
• If welding, burning or cutting equipment or similar is required during the construction measures, a separate fire permit must be applied for.

Eligible applicants

• natural or legal persons (companies) as
  
  • sole owners of the forest plot or
  • persons authorised by owners or owners' associations

Permission to remove the tree population for the installation

• forestry facilities: EUR 75.00
• of power line corridors: EUR 6.50 per ar, minimum EUR 160.00 to a maximum of EUR 750.00

Depending on the regulations of the respective authority, you can submit your application in writing or online (see -> Online application). You can also obtain existing application forms from Amt24 or from the authority's own website.

Online application

• Log in to the service account. If you do not yet have a service account, set one up under "Register a free service account".
• Click the button under Online Application.
• Fill in the data fields according to the instructions and upload the required certificates. You can cache the information at any time and complete it at a later date. You can find temporarily saved versions under "My online applications" in your service account.
• Once you have filled in all the data fields, you can complete the application. The data will be sent to the responsible office.
• You will find the confirmation of receipt in the inbox of your service account. You will receive a notification of incoming messages at your personal e-mail address.

Written application

• You can submit a written application informally. If available, use the forms provided to submit your application. Submit the completed and signed application with the required supporting documents to the competent office. You can submit the documents electronically by e-mail.

Examination and decision

• On the basis of the information you provide, the responsible forestry authority will weigh your interests against those of the general public.
• If necessary, other authorities involved in your tasks will be involved in the decision.
• A decision is made in the form of an official notice. A permit may be issued with conditions.
