If you want to work in facilities with exposure to ionising radiation or employ other people there, you must apply for a permit.
The authorisation requirement applies to you if you have a company that is to carry out repair or maintenance work in nuclear power plants or radionuclide laboratories, for example, or a cleaning company that is to carry out work in such plants or facilities.
You only need such a licence if you or your employees could receive a dose of more than 1 millisievert per calendar year.
- Copy of entry in the commercial register (for partnerships and corporations) or in the trade register
- police clearance certificate of the applicant (for submission to an authority - document type O)
- letter of appointment from the radiation protection officer
- proof of the radiation protection officer's expertise in radiation protection (expertise group S 5)
- radiation protection instruction (draft, if applicable)
- draft delimitation agreement (before the start of employment, if already available)
Additionally in the case of an existing, current licence:
- radiation protection file with list of reference persons
- the last evaluation sheets for dosimetric monitoring (copy / for several locations per LPS-BN no.)
- list of existing delimitation agreements
- personal reliability (proof through certificate of good conduct)
- appointment of at least one radiation protection officer with the required expertise in radiation protection (expertise group S 5)
- radiation protection instructions (at least in draft form)
Note: If you yourself have the necessary expertise in radiation protection, you do not need to appoint a radiation protection officer. In this case, you fulfil the tasks of the radiation protection officer yourself.
You apply for authorisation to work in external plants or facilities in writing with an informal letter. Use the list of information items for notes on the required information and documents (see -> Forms and other offers).
Submit the signed application and the required documents to the competent authority.
- The responsible departmentwill check the application received.
- If all requirements are met, the authority will issue you with a licence. This will be sent to you by post.
- For services subject to a fee, you will receive an invoice by post.
The licence is usually issued with nationwide validity.
For activities in connection with the operation of third-party X-ray equipment and interference sources, you can choose between a nationwide licence and a state-specific notification.
