Application for authorisation or follow-up authorisation to carry out medical examinations and measures in accordance with the Compressed Air Ordinance (DruckLV)

Are you a doctor and would like to carry out medical examinations and measures in accordance with the Compressed Air Ordinance (DruckLV)?

Official authorisations for doctors are provided for under the Compressed Air Ordinance.

If you have the necessary occupational health expertise and specialist knowledge of working in compressed air, you can apply to the competent authority for official authorisation as a doctor for these activities in accordance with the Compressed Air Ordinance (DruckLV).

The authorisations are valid nationwide. These are issued for the Free State of Saxony by the State Directorate of Saxony.

Local responsibility is determined by the place of residence.

• Proof of qualification/course

if applicable:

• own certificate of suitability for compressed air
• Copy of licence to practise
• Copy of proof of the area or additional designation
• Proof of your activity on a compressed air construction site in accordance with § 12 of the Compressed Air Ordinance

• required occupational health expertise
• Expertise in working with compressed air
• Authorisation from the responsible body

You can prove your specialist knowledge by successfully completing a suitable course. You must complete a refresher course every five years at the latest. Further information can be found under"Further information - Occupational medicine".

Procedural fee (initial and subsequent authorisation): EUR 60.00 to 150.00

Submit your application for authorisation in writing to the responsible office.

• As soon as your application documents have been submitted in full, the competent body will examine them and, if necessary, request further documents.
• The competent body will check the application received and, if necessary, make additional requests for missing or incomplete documents.
• If all requirements are met, you will receive a written notification of the result.

4 weeks

• Period of validity: 5 years
• Updating of expertise: every 5 years by attending appropriate courses

Note: The authorisation is granted for the requested medical examinations and other measures for five years or for the duration of the compressed air work to be carried out on a construction site.
