The operation of equipment that emits non-ionising radiation (NiS) and is used for cosmetic and other non-medical purposes on humans is subject to the obligation to notify the competent authority.
Commissioning of installations for the application of non-ionising radiation to humans subject to notification in accordance with Section 3 of the Ordinance on Protection against Harmful Effects of Non-ionising Radiation when Applied to Humans (NiSV)
The operation of equipment that emits non-ionising radiation (NiS) and is used for cosmetic and other non-medical purposes on humans is subject to the obligation to notify the competent authority.
This includes
- Ultrasound devices
- Laser devices and intense light sources
- High-frequency devices
- Low-frequency devices
- Direct current devices
- Magnetic field devices including magnetic resonance imaging devices
Note: The operation of UV irradiation devices as defined by the UV Protection Ordinance is not included here.
- completed and signed notification form (see -> Forms and other offers) for each existing device
- Proof of the required expertise/qualification for all persons using the devices
- Persons using the device require the appropriate qualifications/specialist knowledge.
- Specific applications may only be carried out by doctors with specific further training.
- Complete the notification form (see -> Forms and other offers), stating the operator, the operating site and the data for identifying the system , if the device falls under the scope of the NiSV.
- The notification must be accompanied by proof (see -> Required documents) that the persons using the equipment have the necessary expertise.
- Send the form and the proof of expertise by post or e-mail to the responsible office.
