ADR training certificate and examination for the transport of dangerous goods by road, rail and inland waterways in accordance with Section 14 of the Dangerous Goods Ordinance for Road, Rail and Inland Waterways

In order to work as a vehicle driver in the transport of dangerous goods, you must obtain an ADR certificate from a recognised training provider followed by an examination by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

To do this, you must first attend a training course lasting at least two and a half days. The examination by the IHK takes place at the end of the training on the premises of the training centre and is divided into

• Basic course (exam duration initial training 45 minutes)
• Advanced tank course (45 minutes)
• Advanced course class 1 (30 minutes)
• Advanced course class 7 (30 minutes)
• Refresher course (30 minutes)

• you will only be admitted to the examination if you have attended the training course (recognised by the IHK) without any absences
• you will only be admitted to the examination for an advanced course if you have passed the examination for the basic course in addition to attending a recognised training course
• you will only be admitted to the refresher examination if you can present a valid ADR training certificate

Procedural fee: Calculation according to the IHK fee schedule

After you have attended a training course lasting at least two and a half days,

• you will usually be registered for the examination by the training organiser. If not, you can register online or in writing with the IHK.
• the examination is conducted by the IHK at the training course venue.

The examination is deemed to have been passed if the number of errors specified on the examination form has not been exceeded.

Once you have passed the examination, the IHK will issue you with the ADR training certificate and you can start working.

Note: The respective ADR examination certificate is valid for five years after passing the basic examination. A renewal (refresher course) must take place within twelve months before the examination certificate expires, otherwise the basic course must be taken again.
