Following an initial vocational qualification, you can acquire a further nationally recognised vocational qualification by taking an advanced training examination. With an advanced training examination, you can, for example, obtain a qualification as an industrial foreman, business administrator, business economist or Bachelor / Master Professional.
Depending on the region, the different offices of the Industrie- und Handelskammer in Saxony are responsible. The responsible office will inform you about examination options in your region. If the advanced training examination is not held in your area, you will be informed of where you can go as an alternative.
- The advanced training examination is taken and assessed by an examination board working on a voluntary basis.
- Advanced training examinations consist of several examinations, which are to be taken on separate dates as a written knowledge test and as a practical or oral examination.
Tip: You should prepare well for the content of the respective advanced training examination. There are, for example, courses offered by private providers and self-study materials. However, this is not a legal requirement for admission to the examination.
- Notarised copy of the professional qualification
- Table listing the professional career
- Official photo ID for identification during the examination
- if applicable, confirmation of typical industry activities with duration by the employer
The admission requirements vary depending on the desired further training qualification and are listed in the relevant ordinance
- usually you must already have an initial vocational qualification in order to take part in an advanced training examination,
- this is, for example, a completed vocational training programme.
- Depending on the qualification you are aiming for, you may need to fulfil further admission requirements or have work experience.
The office responsible for your desired qualification will be happy to advise you on the relevant requirements.
Before you decide to take an advanced training examination, you should seek advice from the competent body on the examination admission requirements and, if necessary, take advantage of preparatory training programmes.
- In order to be admitted, you must submit an application for admission to the examination to the competent body.
- After successful admission, you will receive an invitation to all parts of the examination (written and practical or oral). Written and oral or practical parts usually take place on different days.
- At the examination venue, you must identify yourself as an authorised participant with proof of identity and the examination registration form.
- You will usually be informed of the provisional results of the written examination before you take your final oral or practical examination.
- If you have taken part in all parts of the advanced training examination, you will usually receive notification immediately as to whether you have passed.
Once your overall result has been determined by the examination board, it will be forwarded to the relevant authority. Your examination certificate will then be issued and sent to you.
Please note: The examination can be retaken twice.
- The registration deadline for the final examination is approximately one to three months before the first examination date.
- You can find out the exact registration deadline from your regional office.
