Archival records of the public administration are generally accessible to all interested parties. The cities, municipalities and districts keep their archival records in their own or joint archives.

You can usually use the archive material directly in the reading rooms of the archives. Before a visit, it is advisable to enquire by post, email or telephone whether

• Archival material is available on the topic of interest,
• that the archive material can be used,
• If there are any restrictions on use.

Registration

When you visit a reading room of a municipal archive for the first time, you must submit an application for use. This is usually approved at short notice.
