Recognition of the secondary school certificate according to the Berufsfachschulordnung (BFSO) or the Berufsschulordnung (BSO)

After successfully completing your vocational training, your school can certify that you have an intermediate secondary school certificate (Realschulabschluss) if you only have a general secondary school certificate (Hauptschulabschluss).

You will generally be awarded the intermediate secondary school certificate if the average of all grades on your vocational school leaving certificate is at least 3.0 and the result of the final or journeyman's examination is satisfactory or better.

Certificate of completion of vocational school, vocational college or vocational special school

• general secondary school graduation
• Training in a recognised or federally or state-regulated occupation at a vocational school, vocational college or vocational special school
• Certificate of completion from a vocational school, vocational college or vocational special school with an average grade of at least 3.0 from all grades or the qualifying general secondary school certificate
• Passed final examination or journeyman's examination at a
  
  • Vocational school for professions regulated by state law, healthcare professions regulated by federal law and recognised training professions (musical instrument maker* and watchmaker) with a result of at least 3.0
  • Vocational school with a satisfactory overall result after at least two years of training (vocational special school: three years of training)

The school certifies the intermediate school leaving certificate (Realschulabschluss) on the leaving certificate; a separate application is not required. It is advisable to ask your class teacher for the certificate at the end of your training.

For a retrospective certificate, please contact the respective training institution. For professions regulated by state law, every vocational school in Saxony can certify the Realschulabschluss.
