The aim of this programme is to develop rural areas, taking into account the interaction of social, economic and ecological aspects. Against the backdrop of demographic change, economically efficient and liveable rural areas are to be preserved and strengthened. You can receive grants for projects that serve to implement the development strategies of the LEADER areas.

Authorised applicants

Implementation of projects within the framework of the LEADER development strategy (LES)

• Beneficiaries may be natural persons and legal entities under private and public law as well as partnerships with legal capacity, including LEADER action groups (LAGs).
• Only Saxon LAGs may be beneficiaries in the preparation of cooperation projects in accordance with Part B, Section II, point 1.1(b).
• running costs and awareness-raising associated with the management of the implementation of the LES LAGs recognized by the State Ministry for Regional Development can be beneficiaries.

• The main requirements for funding are
• the classification of the location in the spatial scope for the funding period 2023 - 2027
• a positive decision by the decision-making body of the LAG to select the project
• Grants for structural investments may only be awarded to the owner or heritable building ownerGrants may only be approved for projects that have not yet been started before the application is submitted to the approval authority

The most important instrument for LEADER areas to implement their strategy is thematic calls. Citizens, companies, associations and municipalities can apply for funding for their projects. The LEADER areas select the projects for funding that best serve the regional objectives.
The selection of a project by the LAG does not constitute a funding commitment. The decision on eligibility for funding is made by the responsible approval authority.
