Internatsunterbringung von Schülern allgemeinbildender Schulen, finanzielle Unterstützung beantragen

If your child attends one of the general education schools listed below and is accommodated in a boarding school, you can receive financial support towards the accommodation and catering costs incurred under certain conditions.

A fixed monthly amount of EUR 195.00 is granted as financial support. If a parent or the adult student receives basic income support for job-seekers or social assistance, up to EUR 295.00 can be paid if the accommodation and catering costs are actually higher than EUR 195.00.

• Proof of the most favourable transport connection in terms of time
• Copy of the rental agreement
• Proof of rental and catering costs (e.g. copy of bank statement)
• depending on the individual case:
  • Proof of a disability
  • Copy of BAföG decision
  • Copy of the BAföG claim notification
  • Copy of Arbeitslosengeld II notification or social assistance notification
  • Proof of justification for the application for payment on account
  • Proof of reimbursement of expenses/costs from a third party and/or benefits from public funds

The top-up of support for recipients of Grundsicherung for jobseekers or social assistance requires that you have actually incurred higher accommodation costs than EUR 195.00. If this is the case for you, you must prove this with appropriate documentation.

• Your child's main place of residence is in Saxony
• Your child is a boarder at one of the following schools:
  • Landesgymnasium St. Afra zu Meißen
  • a general secondary school with in-depth training
  • a secondary school that cooperates with a grammar school with in-depth sports education
• The pupil's main place of residence is so far away from the school that the journey there and back, including travelling and waiting times, would take at least two hours per day using the most convenient means of public transport (pupils with disabilities: one and a half hours).
  • Exception: This time requirement does not apply to the Landesgymnasium St. Afra zu Meißen and the Landesgymnasium für Musik "Carl Maria von Weber" Dresden.

Note: Please note that the BAföG will be offset against this support and the funding amount will be reduced accordingly.

The support is applied for, approved and paid out retrospectively at the end of each school quarter. The following periods apply as school quarters (not including school holidays):

• 1st school quarter: 01.08. - 31.10.
• 2nd school quarter: 01.11. - 31.01.
• 3rd school quarter: 01.02. - 30.04.
• 4th school quarter: 01.05. - 31.07.

Application

You must use the prescribed form when submitting your application. If the student is already of age, they must submit the application themselves.

Before submitting the application to the competent authority, you must submit it to the school and the boarding school. They will check the data and confirm attendance for the requested period.

Payment

If you are granted financial support, payment will be made to the account you have specified; cash payments are not possible.

Advance payments are only possible if you can prove that you are unable to pay the accommodation costs in advance. If you have been granted advance payments, you must submit a further application to prove that you are actually using the boarding school.

The application for the previous school year should be submitted to the responsible department by 1 November at the latest.
