Application for a scholarship according to the federal guidelines for the promotion of professionally talented persons during university studies

Experienced professionals with special talent and commitment have a good chance of receiving a federal advancement scholarship for their first academic degree course. You can apply to the SBB - Stiftung Begabtenförderung berufliche Bildung (foundation for the promotion of the talented in professional education and training) for support even before you start your studies; it is possible to apply up to the end of the second semester.

The support amounts to a total of EUR 750.00 per month for full-time studies or EUR 2,000.00 per year for part-time studies. The support extends over the standard period of study and is not dependent on income.

The SBB - Stiftung Begabtenförderung berufliche Bildung selects scholarship holders on behalf of and with funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung) and accompanies them during their studies.

• If a reasoned proposal from the employer is required, this must be received by SBB within seven days of your online application.
• SBB will only request further documents when inviting you to stage II ("competence check"), including copies of professional examination certificates and evidence of professional periods.

Note: Please do not submit any documents until you have submitted the online questionnaire.

The study support is purposed to professionals who have shown special achievements in professional training and professional practice. Those who have already been in employment for many years can also apply.

The requirements for an application are:

• completed professional training in accordance with the Professional Training Act (Berufsbildungsgesetz) or the Crafts Code (Handwerksordnung)
• work experience of at least two years following completion of training at the time of application and before commencement of studies
• proof of special professional ability

An overall grade of better than "good" (at least 1.9 or 87 points) in the final professional examination or the final examination of an advanced training course (including master craftsman, technician, specialist business administrator) can be used as proof of professional capability. If the grade is not sufficient, further possibilities include particularly successful participation in a supra-regional professional performance competition or a justified proposal by the employer.

Attention! SBB cannot consider your application without this information.

• Access the application portal on the website of the foundation for the promotion of gifted and talented people in professional education and training and complete the online form in full.
• SBB will check your details and inform you of the result by e-mail (in the case of a justified employer proposal, after the proposal has been checked).
