There is no obligation to pay a contribution for a vacant flat. The prerequisite is,
- it is not occupied by anyone,
- there is no tenancy agreement for it,
- that no person is registered at the residents' registration office.
For citizens:
- per flat: EUR 18.36
- Secondary and secondary residences: free of charge upon application
- reduced broadcasting fee: EUR 6.12 per month
You must pay the licence fee for three months at a time. The contribution service collects it in the middle of a three-month period.
You must register your flat with the competent authority. You can do this informally in writing or fill out a form. The form is usually also available in the municipalities.
Tip: If you are no longer required to pay the contribution, for example if another resident in the flat already pays the broadcasting contribution, you can deregister with the contribution service.
The obligation to pay contributions begins on the first of the month in which you first occupy a dwelling. This means that you
- live there,
- are registered there or
- are named as a tenant in the tenancy agreement.
