If you are no longer subject to the obligation to pay broadcasting fees and you have previously paid broadcasting fees, you should deregister with the ARD ZDF Deutschlandradio Beitragsservice.

• Proof that the obligation to pay contributions has lapsed
• Certificate of registration
• if required:
  • Contribution number of the person already paying for the flat
  • Power of attorney or power of attorney for care

You only have to deregister if you have been paying the broadcasting contribution up to now and the obligation to pay the contribution no longer applies to you.

The obligation to pay the licence fee does not apply if you

• live in a cohabitation or as another resident in a flat and have paid broadcasting fees several times so far,
• move into a flat for which broadcasting fees are already paid, or
• are entitled to or obtain exemption for certain social or health reasons.

The obligation to pay contributions ends at the end of the month in which the reason for deregistration occurs - but not before the end of the month in which you have given notice of this.
