Application for a life certificate for pension purposes in accordance with § 119 Sozialgesetzbuch Sechstes Buch (SGB VI)

The pension insurance fund (Rentenversicherung) can request a life certificate from you as proof. This is an official document which is issued by the competent authority on application.

• as proof for other insurances (e.g. company pensions): EUR 12.00

You can apply for a life certificate in person at the relevant office.

If you are unable to visit the relevant office (e.g. for health reasons), send an informal application and enclose a copy of the required documents. The certificate will then be sent to you.

If you come in person: usually immediately

You can have the life certificate issued free of charge by a information and advice centre of the Deutsche Rentenversicherung for submission to foreign pension insurance institutions.
