You can apply for a life certificate in person at the relevant office.
If you are unable to visit the relevant office (e.g. for health reasons), send an informal application and enclose a copy of the required documents. The certificate will then be sent to you.
You can have the life certificate issued free of charge by a information and advice centre of the Deutsche Rentenversicherung for submission to foreign pension insurance institutions.
