Duty to report explosive ordnance finds according to § 3 of the sächsische Kampfmittelverordnung
If you think you have found explosive ordnance, contact the police immediately by dialling 110, regardless of whether you find it on your own property or in publicly accessible places such as forests. Explosive ordnance is often no longer recognisable as such. They may be rusted or encrusted with soil.
Attention!
- Do not touch found ammunition!
- Even the slightest change in position, impact or pressure can cause a life-threatening explosion.
If you fail to report the explosion, you are committing an administrative offence. This can be punished with a fine.
If you find objects that you cannot identify with certainty, please adhere to the following safety instructions:
- Leave the explosive ordnance at the location where it was found and do not touch it.
- Mark and secure the site of the discovery.
- Warn people approaching in good time and make them aware of the dangers as well.
- Inform the police immediately by dialling 110.
- Avoid shocks and injuries.
- If explosive ordnance has been picked up accidentally, put it down carefully, but never throw it.
- It is imperative that you follow the instructions of the responsible authority.

- You have explosive ordnance searched for purely as a precautionary measure, although there is no justified suspicion, or
- you submit an application to the competent police authority to search for explosive ordnance
After you have reported the find, the responsible department will decide on the further course of action and the measures to be taken.
