Notification of the appointment or dismissal and of changes to the duties and authorisations of radiation protection officers in accordance with Section 70 of the Radiation Protection Act (StrlSchG)
As the person responsible for radiation protection, you are obliged to appoint the required number of radiation protection officers necessary to ensure radiation protection when operating an X-ray facility or an interfering source. You must make the appointment in writing and notify the supervisory/enforcement authority immediately in writing , stating the specified tasks and authorisations.
Radiation protection officers are always required if you, as the person responsible for radiation protection (operator), do not have the necessary expertise in radiation protection yourself or if the X-ray equipment or the source of interference is to be operated in your absence.
Note: Please note that you must report the appointment of a radiation protection officer, as well as changes to the tasks or authorisations of a radiation protection officer and the resignation of the radiation protection officer from his function.
- Letter of appointment stating the operational decision-making area and the authorisations granted for this (copy)
- Certificate of good conduct of the radiation protection officer (document type O)
- Proof of the required expertise (copy)
- for physicians: Proof of licence to practise (copy)
- personal reliability
- Certificate of acquisition of the necessary expertise in radiation protection (training, practical experience, participation in recognised courses)
- timely updating of expertise through recognised courses or other training measuresrecognised as suitable
- Draw up a letter of appointment in which you name the radiation protection officers and their tasks, decision-making areas and required authorisations. A special written form is not required. You can also use the forms provided by the Saxony State Directorate .
- Submit a copy of the letter signed by you and the appointed persons together with the required evidence to the Labour Protection Administration for the Free State of Saxony ("competent authority")
