Application for authorization to use a repairer's mark in accordance with § 54 of the Ordinance on Metrology and Calibration (repairer's authorization)

After repair or adjustment of calibrated measuring instruments, their correctness must be verified and confirmed by a calibration. Particularly in the case of stationary measuring instruments, the responsible weights and measures office is not able to recalibrate the instruments immediately, but a so-called repairer's mark permits continued operation until calibration. Only repair stores with a special authorization may affix the mark.

For this procedure, you can use the service of the Single Point of Contact (Einheitlicher Ansprechpartner). They will guide you through the administrative procedure, take care of correspondence with all the offices responsible for your request and will be available to you as a competent advisor.

• Form "Application for granting/modification of an authorization as repairer according to § 54 MessEV" (Further information "Applications and forms")
• Certificates of competence for authorized personnel:
  • Training certificates from the manufacturers or distributors authorized by them.

In order to be able to assess the application, further information and documents may be required as proof under certain circumstances.

Companies that repair and adjust calibrated measuring instruments are eligible to apply. They must meet the following conditions:

• The establishment is equipped with the facilities and skilled personnel required for repair and adjustment.
• Suitable and traceable test equipment must be available for checking the repair.

The fees and expenses are based on code number 14.5.1.1 of the fee schedule of the Ordinance on Measurement and Calibration Fees (MessEGebV).

You apply for the authorization to use a repairer's mark on the prescribed application form at the Weights and Measures Office.

• Please fill out the form completely and gather the necessary evidence.
• Submit the application documents to the above-mentioned office.
• The Saxon State Office for Metrology and Verification will check your application. If it is approved, you will be issued with a certificate of authorization and the repairer's mark.

Recognition: will be done immediately if all requirements are met.
