If you, as a professional trainee, need an overnight stay away from home for the time of your lessons at the professional school, you can, under certain conditions, receive financial support for the accommodation and board costs incurred.
You will receive EUR 16.00 for each day on which you required accommodation.
- Copy of the training contract
- Copy of the tenancy agreement
- Proof of the most convenient transport connection in terms of time
- depending on the individual case
- Proof of a disability
- Proof of a professional or academic qualification already obtained
- Copy of permission to attend another professional class
- Proof or declaration of application for payment on account
- Your main place of residence is in Saxony.
- You are completing dual professional training.
- Your professional school is located in the catchment area specified for your training occupation by the school supervisory authority. Exceptions are only possible if this has been approved for you.
- Your main place of residence is so far away from the school that it would take you at least three hours a day to get there and back using the cheapest public transport, including waiting times (pupils with disabilities: two hours and ten minutes).
The following days are taken into account for financial support:
- School days and days on which other compulsory school events take place
- days without lessons and arrival and departure days if overnight accommodation is necessary due to unreasonable transport connections (this would be the case if you had to arrive before 05:00 or leave after 20:00 on the lesson day)
Support is excluded for participants in retraining measures. The same applies to students who have a higher education entrance qualification or who already have a qualification in a recognised training occupation or a professional school qualification.
The support must be applied for at the end of each school semester and will then be granted and paid out. If a teaching period extends over both school semesters, it should be claimed in the second school semester.
The following periods are considered school half-years (different from school holidays):
- first school semester: 01.08. - 31.01.
- second school semester: 01.02. - 31.07.
Application
- For pupils who are not yet of age, the application is made by the parents. Before submitting it to the competent authority, you must submit it to your school. They will check the data and confirm your attendance on the days applied for.
Payment
- If you are granted financial aid, payment will be made to the account you have indicated; cash payments are not possible.
- Advance payments are only possible if you can prove that you are not able to pay the accommodation costs in advance. If you have been granted advance payments, you must subsequently prove the actual costs incurred in another application.
The application should be submitted to the competent office by the following deadlines:
- first school semester (01.08. - 31.01.): by 01.04.
- second school semester (01.02. - 31.07.) by 01.10.
