Your child will take part in the performance survey if the educational recommendation is to attend a secondary school, but your daughter or son would still like to attend a grammar school. To do this, register your child at the grammar school of your choice.

The assessment will take place at the grammar school where you have registered your child.

Note: The educational recommendation for the grammar school can also be issued at the end of the school year if there is such a clear improvement in performance that the requirements for this are met.

• pupils in the fourth grade of a non-state-recognised primary school or an independent general education special school

Application for acceptance of your child at the grammar school of your choice. The examinations take place on centrally scheduled dates.

Performance assessment

The performance assessment is a written examination paper covering the subjects German, maths and general studies in equal parts.

• The working time is 60 minutes.
• The assessment is not graded.
• Parents will be informed of the results of the assessment during the mandatory counselling session.

• Registration at the grammar school: until 01.03.2024
• written performance assessment: 05.03.2023
• written follow-up appointment if there is an important reason for being unable to attend: 13.03.2024
• Notification of the result during the counselling interview

At Sorbian schools, the assessment can be carried out in the Sorbian language.
