Under certain circumstances, you can request the responsible person to restrict the processing of your data.

Processing is then only possible

• with your consent.
• for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
• for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person.
• for reasons of important public interest of the Union or of a Member State.

Note: There are special regulations in the area of police, judicial or intelligence processing, which largely correspond to the content of Article 18 of the General Data Protection Regulation.

A right to restriction of processing is possible:

• if you dispute the accuracy of the personal data processed about you; in this case, the restriction lasts for as long as it takes the controller to verify the accuracy of your data
• if the processing of your data is unlawful; in this case, you can request restriction instead of erasure
• if the controller no longer needs your data, but you need it for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims
• if you have lodged an objection as long as it is not yet clear whether the legitimate reasons of the controller outweigh your reasons.

Note: The restriction of processing does not affect the obligation to provide the documents containing your data to the responsible archive in accordance with the Archive Act for the Free State of Saxony.

• If one of the conditions is met, you can request the restriction in writing, verbally, by telephone or in any other form from the acting public authority.
• The controller must inform you before the restriction is lifted.
