Important results of the flood protection concepts in the Free State of Saxony and flood hazard maps can be accessed via the information platform iDA (interdisciplinary data and analyses).

What is a flood protection concept?

A flood protection concept is a water management framework plan for improving flood protection. A flood protection concept includes

• an analysis of historical and current extreme flood events
• hydrological studies and hydraulic calculations
• determination of the existing level of protection as well as the hazard and damage potential
• the derivation of a protection level, taking into account the probability of damage occurring and the extent of damage
• a plan of measures to achieve the defined level of protection
• Hazard maps

Both the hazard maps and the flood protection concepts themselves are currently being updated step by step.

Important results, in particular the hazard maps (including the reports on the hazard maps) can be viewed on the iDA information platform of the State Flood Centre.

The complete flood protection concepts are available from the state dam administration and, for the respective watercourses, also from the district offices or municipal administrations of the independent cities. Inspection at the respective authorities is possible by appointment.
